Andres Carrillo-Hernandez, a 27-year-old Mexican national, found himself in deep doo-doo today as he was charged with alien smuggling. The guy’s already locked up, and the feds are serious: at least three years’ lockup is on the table, but it could be up to ten if the judge doesn’t play nice. Carrillo-Hernandez, a resident of Alabama’s Southern District, is facing serious heat for what officials call ‘illegally bringing people across borders,’ which isn’t just some mere traffic violation.

The U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo had this to say: ‘This is a stark reminder of the serious consequences one faces when dealing in illegal immigration activities.’

According to the criminal complaint, Carrillo-Hernandez was allegedly involved in more than just a one-off hustle; he’s said to be part of a larger operation. Officials are no joke about locking up those who facilitate the illegal crossing of borders, no matter what side of the fence they’re on.

While it’s unclear if the guy had a lawyer at his arraignment, one thing is certain—his future looks grim in the ‘Big House’.
