Millican Gets 33 Months for Flood of Fentanyl

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Another dealer pushing poison onto the streets of Louisiana is facing consequences. ALSKIIN MILLICAN, 21, of Madisonville, was sentenced to thirty-three (33) months in federal prison on June 4, 2024, after pleading guilty to a serious drug charge. The sentence sends a message, though whether it’s enough to stem the tide of fentanyl remains to be seen.

MILLICAN admitted to conspiring with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl – a Schedule II controlled substance. The charges stem from violations of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(B), and 846, meaning this wasn’t a small-time operation.

The bust unfolded on September 15, 2023, in Mandeville, Louisiana, when MILLICAN brazenly sold 1000 fentanyl pills directly to an undercover agent. That’s a thousand doses of a substance that’s killing Americans at an alarming rate. The scale of the deal demonstrates a clear intent to profit from the suffering of others.

Beyond the prison sentence, MILLICAN will also be subject to three (3) years of supervised release after he’s locked up. He’s also been slapped with a $200.00 mandatory special assessment fee – a paltry sum considering the potential damage caused by his actions. This isn’t just about punishment; it’s about disrupting the supply chain.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department worked together to bring MILLICAN to justice. These agencies are on the front lines of the fight against fentanyl, often putting their own lives at risk to dismantle these networks. The investigation highlights the need for continued collaboration between federal and local law enforcement.

Assistant United States Attorney Rachal Cassagne of the Narcotics Unit is leading the prosecution. This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing opioid crisis and the relentless efforts of law enforcement to combat the flow of deadly drugs into our communities. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and others like it, holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
