Norwich Man Caught Red-Handed in Massive Cocaine Heist

⏱ 3 min read

A massive cocaine heist in Norwich, Connecticut, has landed a local man in hot water. Javon Morse, 30, was caught with nearly a kilogram of cocaine, four handguns, and over $6,700 in cash during a traffic stop.

Morse was on federal supervised release after serving a 60-month sentence for trafficking cocaine in 2017. He was released from prison in January 2021, but his freedom was short-lived.

On October 14, 2024, Morse fled from Norwich Police during a traffic stop, leading to a chaotic pursuit. He discarded a backpack containing the cocaine and other narcotics before speeding away. Morse’s vehicle became disabled, and he was taken into custody.

A search of the backpack and Morse’s storage unit revealed a treasure trove of narcotics, firearms, and ammunition. The evidence against Morse is damning, and he’s facing a mandatory minimum term of five years in prison for the cocaine trafficking charge.

Morse pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He’s been detained in federal custody since December 12, 2024.
