Orlando Man Sentenced for Child Porn Possession

A 44-year-old Orlando man has been sentenced to six years and six months in federal prison for possessing child sexual abuse material.

Charles Bernard Long entered a guilty plea on January 26, 2024, and was subsequently sentenced by U.S. District Judge Carlos Mendoza.

Long was also ordered to forfeit a laptop computer used during the commission of the offense. The court documents revealed that investigators used a file-sharing program to download multiple files of child sexual abuse material from a device traced to Long on May 20 and June 1, 2023.

During a subsequent interview with FBI agents, Long admitted to using the online file-sharing program for the past year to collect child sexual abuse material. He claimed to have viewed the images and videos because he was curious.

Multiple digital devices were removed from Long’s home and analyzed. Long’s laptop computer contained approximately 22 images and 238 videos depicting child sexual abuse material. Much of the material had been deleted but was recovered using a forensic tool.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Rachel S. Lyons.

This is another case brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
