Pagan’s Member ‘Navajo’ Admits to Brutal Bar Assault

KANSAS CITY, MO – A member of the notorious Pagan’s Motorcycle Club admitted today to a savage assault on a rival gang member, leaving the victim clinging to life. The brutal beating took place at a North Kansas City bar & grill, and marks another escalation in the ongoing turf war between outlaw motorcycle gangs in the region.

Mark A. Crump, also known as “Navajo,” 55, of Lee’s Summit, Mo., pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Greg Kays to one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury in aid of racketeering. The July 20, 2023, attack was premeditated, according to court documents. Crump, alongside Jarrid A. Hammer and another Pagan’s member, targeted a lone member of a rival motorcycle club.

The assault wasn’t a spontaneous brawl. Witnesses stated that Hammer explicitly told the victim they were there to “shut [his] club down” before physically initiating the attack, flipping a table onto the man and knocking him to the ground. Once down, Crump, Hammer, and their accomplice launched a relentless assault, described by the victim to law enforcement as a sustained barrage of stomps, kicks, and punches. Disturbingly, the victim reported the attackers were wearing steel-toed boots – a clear indication of intent to inflict maximum damage.

The scene was chaotic. The Pagan’s members fled the bar & grill before police arrived, leaving the victim bleeding and broken. Emergency responders transported the man to a local hospital where doctors discovered the full extent of his injuries: a head contusion (bruise on the brain), rib fracture, hemothorax (accumulation of blood between the chest wall and lungs), a left pulmonary contusion (bruising of the lung), pneumothorax (collapsed lung), and a traumatic brain injury. The victim’s condition remains undisclosed.

Hammer previously pleaded guilty to the assault on June 18, 2025, and is currently awaiting sentencing. Crump now faces up to 20 years in federal prison without the possibility of parole. The ultimate sentence will be determined by Judge Kays, considering advisory sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors following a presentence investigation conducted by the United States Probation Office. This isn’t simply a bar fight; it’s a clear example of racketeering activity by a dangerous organized crime group.

The investigation was a collaborative effort by the FBI, Independence, Mo., Police Department, Blue Springs, Mo., Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Bradley K. Kavanaugh and Robert Smith as part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) – a multi-agency initiative dedicated to dismantling high-level criminal organizations.
