Pittsfield Man Rosado Gets 33 Months for Heroin Sales

Eulises Rosado, 51, of Pittsfield, is going to federal prison for peddling heroin out of his home in a series of drug deals that fueled the opioid crisis in Western Massachusetts. Rosado was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Springfield to 33 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release.

The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni, caps a years-long investigation into Rosado’s drug activity. On July 22, 2021, he pleaded guilty to six counts of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute heroin — charges stemming from six separate transactions between March and August 2017.

On five of those six occasions, Rosado sold the drugs directly from his residence in Pittsfield, using his home as a hub for illicit trade. The sixth sale occurred elsewhere but was similarly arranged and executed with the same criminal intent. Each transaction involved heroin and was conducted with a cooperating witness working under federal supervision.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Neil L. Desroches of the Springfield Branch Office, part of Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell’s team. Federal and state agencies collaborated extensively, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Boston Office under Special Agent in Charge Joseph R. Bonavolonta, and the Massachusetts State Police, led by Colonel Christopher Mason.

Local law enforcement played a critical role in building the case. The Pittsfield, Springfield, West Springfield, Holyoke, and Easthampton Police Departments provided special assistance, helping trace Rosado’s movements, verify transactions, and secure evidence that led to his guilty plea.

Rosado’s 33-month sentence reflects the seriousness of repeated drug distribution in a region ravaged by addiction. With five years of federal supervision waiting after release, his case serves as a stark reminder: the feds are watching, and dealing heroin comes with a steep price.
