Nathanial Alfonso Burke, 34, of Willits, California, is headed to federal prison for 10 and a half years after attempting to meet an 11-year-old girl for sex. Burke was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley after pleading guilty in July. The investigation began in February 2024, when Burke began messaging someone he believed to be the girl’s father.

According to court documents, Burke bombarded the pair with explicit messages and images of child pornography via messaging apps. He eventually arranged a meet-up, arriving at the location with condoms stuffed in his pockets. Law enforcement, who had been monitoring the situation, arrested him on the spot.

The feds initially indicted Burke on May 9, 2024. He’s been cooling his heels in jail since April, and that time will count towards the 126-month sentence. Judge Corley didn’t stop there – Burke will also have to endure 15 years of supervised release after he gets out.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sara E. Henderson and Soana Katoa prosecuted the case, backed by the FBI, the Willits Police Department, and the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety. U.S. Attorney Craig H. Missakian and FBI Acting Special Agent in Charge Matt Cobo announced the sentencing.
