Qamar Gets 3 Months for Illegal Return to US

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Saima Qamar, 55, a citizen of Canada and originally from Pakistan, learned the hard way that attempting to sneak back into the United States after being deported carries serious consequences. She was sentenced today to three months in federal prison after pleading guilty to re-entry of a removed alien.

The sentencing, handed down by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr., concludes a swift case prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Smith. Qamar’s troubles began in April 2019 when she was physically removed from U.S. soil. She clearly didn’t get the message.

On June 9, 2025, Border Patrol agents operating in Niagara County, New York, apprehended Qamar. She was found to have no legitimate documentation authorizing her presence in the country. The agents weren’t buying any sob stories. Her attempt to slip back in was a blatant disregard for U.S. immigration law.

Following her prison term, Qamar will be handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation proceedings. This isn’t simply about a single individual; it’s about securing the border and upholding the law. ICE will ensure she doesn’t attempt this maneuver again.

This case isn’t an isolated incident. It’s part of the larger, nationwide “Operation Take Back America,” a Department of Justice initiative designed to aggressively combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect communities from violent crime. The DOJ isn’t messing around.

The investigation that led to Qamar’s conviction was conducted by the dedicated agents of the U.S. Border Patrol Niagara Falls Station, operating under the direction of Patrol Agent in Charge Brady Waikal. They are the front line, and they are doing their job. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on the ongoing efforts to secure our borders.
