Radigan Indicted in Tri-State Bank Heists

TOLEDO, OH – A 39-year-old Michigan man is facing federal charges after allegedly hitting three banks in northwest Ohio over a three-month span in 2014. Jason Radigan, of Northville, Michigan, was indicted this week, according to a statement released by United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, Steven M. Dettelbach.

The indictment details Radigan’s alleged involvement in the January 30, 2014 robbery of a Charter One Bank at 5150 North Summit Street in Toledo. Just over a month later, on March 4, 2014, Radigan is accused of robbing a Huntington Bank also located on North Summit Street in Toledo – specifically, 5201 North Summit Street. The spree culminated, authorities say, with the April 9, 2014 robbery of State Bank & Trust at 610 East South Boundary in Perrysburg, Ohio.

While the indictment lays out the charges, it’s crucial to remember this is just the first step in the legal process. As Dettelbach’s office made clear, an indictment is *not* proof of guilt. Radigan is presumed innocent and entitled to a full and fair trial where the government must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The investigation into these brazen daylight robberies was a joint effort. The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Northwest Ohio Violent Crimes Task Force took the lead, working alongside the Toledo Police Department and the City of Perrysburg Police Department. Their combined efforts led to the indictment of Radigan, but the work isn’t over.

Assistant United States Attorney Ava Dustin is handling the prosecution. If convicted on the robbery charges, Radigan’s sentence will be determined by the judge, taking into account a range of factors – including any prior criminal record, his role in the alleged crimes, and the specifics of each bank robbery. While the statutory maximum hasn’t been disclosed, the statement notes that sentences are typically less than the maximum allowed by law.

Grimy Times will continue to follow this case as it moves through the federal court system. The public deserves to know the details of these crimes and the pursuit of justice. Expect further updates as the trial date approaches and evidence is presented. This is a developing story.
