Reckless Driver, Fugitive Sentenced for Illegal Reentry

⏱ 2 min read

A brazen fugitive with a penchant for evading the law and a history of violent crimes has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for illegally reentering the United States.

Baldemar Duarte-Nieto, 47, a Mexican national, was found by law enforcement in Kalispell on July 26, 2025, after a high-speed vehicle and foot pursuit that reached 80 mph in a residential neighborhood. He crashed into a Toyota Camry carrying four people, before being apprehended by a K-9 unit.

Duarte-Nieto’s rap sheet is a laundry list of convictions, including assault with a weapon in Washington state, carjacking in California, and conspiracy to bring a controlled substance into a prison.

It’s the fourth time he’s been kicked out of the US, with his last removal occurring in November 2021 after an extensive hearing with an immigration judge. Despite never applying for readmission, Duarte-Nieto somehow managed to stay under the radar for years, using an assumed identity to evade detection.
