⏱ 2 min read

In a significant shake-up, US Attorney Charles C. Calenda announced a new leadership team in Rhode Island, effective immediately. Dulce Donovan, a veteran federal prosecutor, has been appointed as the First Assistant US Attorney, overseeing day-to-day operations, including criminal prosecutions, civil litigation, and administrative functions across the district. Donovan succeeds Sara Miron Bloom, who served as First Assistant US Attorney and Acting US Attorney from February 2025 to March 2026. The move aims to strengthen the office’s efforts in combating complex crimes, including fraud, public corruption, and white-collar offenses. The change in leadership is expected to enhance the office’s efficiency and effectiveness in prosecuting crimes in Rhode Island.

Donovan brings over two decades of experience in prosecuting complex criminal matters, including fraud and other white-collar offenses. She has led significant investigations and prosecutions involving financial crimes, health care fraud, and public corruption. From 2023 to 2025, she served as Assistant General Counsel in the Executive Office for US Attorneys in Washington, DC, advising US Attorneys’ offices nationwide on employment, ethics, and compliance matters.

Stacey A. Erickson will continue to serve as the Criminal Chief, a role she has held since joining the US Attorney’s Office in August 2019. Erickson has prosecuted violent crime, human trafficking, complex fraud, and narcotics trafficking cases, and has also served as the office’s Homeland Security Lead Task Force Attorney and Human Trafficking Coordinator.

The new leadership team is expected to build on the office’s existing efforts to combat crime in Rhode Island. With their combined experience and expertise, they will work to ensure that justice is served and that the community is protected from complex crimes.
