Rockford Man, 34, Indicted in Child Porn Case

ROCKFORD, IL – Alex Reinhard LeDoux, 34, of Rockford is facing serious federal charges after being indicted by a grand jury this week. The indictment alleges LeDoux illegally possessed images depicting the sexual abuse of children, bringing a dark undercurrent of exploitation to the surface in the Northern District of Illinois.

According to court documents unsealed today in U.S. District Court in Rockford, LeDoux is charged with receipt, transportation, and possession of child pornography. Investigators say the illicit images were found in LeDoux’s possession throughout 2023. The specifics of how these images came to be in his control remain under investigation, but the charges themselves paint a grim picture.

The stakes are high. Receiving and transporting child pornography each carry a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in federal prison, with a potential maximum of 20 years behind bars. The charge of possessing child pornography carries a maximum sentence of 20 years. Federal prosecutors aren’t messing around, and rightfully so; these crimes are considered among the most heinous.

The indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Andrew S. Boutros for the Northern District of Illinois, alongside Douglas S. DePodesta, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Office of the FBI. The Rockford Police Department played a crucial role in assisting the federal investigation, demonstrating a collaborative effort to tackle this sickening crime. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan S. Kim will be prosecuting the case.

It’s vital to remember that an indictment is not a finding of guilt. LeDoux is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. He is entitled to a vigorous defense, and the government bears the full burden of proving his guilt. However, the charges are deeply disturbing and demand a thorough and just resolution.

This case is being prosecuted under the umbrella of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a nationwide initiative designed to aggressively combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. PSC coordinates the resources of federal, state, and local law enforcement to identify, apprehend, and prosecute predators, and to provide crucial support services to victims. Anyone believing they may be a victim of sexual exploitation is urged to contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at www.missingkids.com or by calling 1-800-843-5678. The hotline is available 24/7.
