Ronald Behee Jr Sentenced

Ronald Lee Behee, Jr., a 51-year-old Council Bluffs man, has been sentenced to 42 months in federal prison for possession of a firearm as a felon. This sentence is a direct result of Behee’s reckless decision to bring a loaded pistol to his workplace at Tyson’s Foods.

According to public court documents, on October 28, 2024, Behee, a convicted felon and drug user, took a loaded Ruger, LCP, .380 caliber, pistol to work. The serial number on the pistol had been obliterated and was unreadable. Law enforcement received a tip and subsequently located the firearm in Behee’s locker. Further investigation revealed that Behee was also in possession of approximately 8 grams of methamphetamine and 4.4 grams of marijuana.

Behee’s criminal history is marked by theft-related, controlled substance, and domestic violence convictions. His latest offense demonstrates a blatant disregard for the law and a willingness to put others at risk. The sentence handed down by the court reflects the severity of Behee’s actions and the need to protect the community from individuals who pose a threat to public safety.

The investigation into Behee’s activities was conducted by the Council Bluffs Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The case was announced by United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa. The collaborative efforts of these law enforcement agencies have resulted in the removal of a dangerous individual from the community and the prevention of potential harm to others.

As part of his sentence, Behee will be required to serve a three-year term of supervised release following his imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system, ensuring that Behee will serve the entirety of his sentence. Additionally, Behee was ordered to forfeit the firearm and pay a $100 special assessment. The forfeiture of the firearm and the imposition of a special assessment serve as a further deterrent to those who would seek to engage in similar criminal activity.

The sentencing of Ronald Behee, Jr. serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in criminal activity, particularly when it involves the possession of firearms and controlled substances. The federal justice system will continue to work tirelessly to identify and prosecute individuals who pose a threat to public safety, and to ensure that those who break the law are held accountable for their actions.
