Ronnie LaShawn Allen Sentenced

Ronnie LaShawn Allen, a 45-year-old La Marque resident, has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, announced U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani.

Allen pleaded guilty to the charges on February 24, 2022. U.S. District Judge Jeffrey V. Brown ordered Allen to serve the 10-year prison sentence, to be immediately followed by five years of supervised release.

Between February 2017 and February 2019, Allen distributed cocaine base, also known as crack, for a crack distribution ring operating in the La Marque and Texas City areas. He was held responsible for 2.224 kilograms of crack cocaine, making him a key player in the local drug trade.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Safe Streets and Violent Crimes Task Force in conjunction with the La Marque Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Cusick prosecuted the case, securing a significant conviction against a major player in the local crack distribution scene.

Allen’s sentence is a significant blow to the crack distribution ring that operated in the La Marque and Texas City areas. The ring’s activities contributed to the spread of addiction and violence in the community, and Allen’s imprisonment will help to disrupt the flow of illicit drugs into the area.

The case against Allen is a testament to the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and distribution in Texas. The collaboration between federal and local authorities has resulted in the dismantling of a significant crack distribution operation, and the community can expect to see a reduction in drug-related crime as a result.

Allen will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility, where he will serve out his 10-year sentence. The supervised release that follows will ensure that Allen is closely monitored and held accountable for his actions, reducing the likelihood of recidivism and further criminal activity.
