San Antonio’s Robert Herrera stood before a federal judge today, admitting to a chilling threat against the Commander-in-Chief. The 52-year-old has pleaded guilty to making threats against President Trump, according to court documents.
Herrera’s transgression stemmed from a July 10 Facebook post by a local news outlet about President Trump’s planned visit to Texas Hill Country following devastating floods. Under the alias ‘Robert Herrer,’ Herrera dared, “I won’t miss,” in reference to the President’s trip. His audacity didn’t end there.
After another user promised, “you won’t get the chance, I promise,” Herrera retorted with a sinister intent: “I’ll just come for you.” To underscore his menacing words, Herrera shared an image of an assault rifle and loaded magazines.
Herrera was apprehended the same day. Now, he faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. The sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge after weighing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant factors.
The case has been investigated by the U.S. Secret Service, FBI, San Antonio Police Department, with support from the Texas Department of Public Safety. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mark Roomberg and Kelly Stephenson are handling the prosecution.
U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas announced the plea agreement. Robert Herrera’s actions have left a mark on the community, serving as a stark reminder of the severe consequences that follow such threats against the President.”
