PHOENIX, Ariz. – Brandon Scott Menaged, 22, of Scottsdale, Arizona, is trading luxury for a federal prison cell after being sentenced to 33 months behind bars for a brazen wire fraud scheme. Senior United States District Judge David G. Campbell handed down the sentence on July 9, along with an order for Menaged to pay a hefty $751,000 in restitution to his victims.
The scam, which ran from January 2023 to December 2024, involved Menaged cold-calling and convincing multiple individuals to hand over their money for investments that existed only in his imagination. He spun tales of high returns, fabricated the involvement of other investors, and generally misled victims into believing their funds were going towards legitimate opportunities. Instead, the money flowed directly into Menaged’s pockets.
This wasn’t a case of a struggling entrepreneur; it was pure, calculated greed. Menaged didn’t invest the $1,000,000 he fraudulently obtained. He spent it. The FBI investigation revealed a lavish lifestyle fueled by casino gambling, international travel, and a shopping spree for luxury vehicles, firearms, and, of course, Rolex watches. When victims inevitably demanded their money back, Menaged responded with a litany of excuses and, ultimately, blocked all communication.
The FBI’s Phoenix Division painstakingly pieced together the evidence, uncovering the scope of Menaged’s deception. “He systematically preyed on people’s trust, promising returns that were never going to materialize,” said one source close to the investigation. “The fact that he used the money to fund such a blatant display of wealth while his victims were left empty-handed is particularly egregious.”
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin M. Rapp, District of Arizona, successfully prosecuted the case, ensuring Menaged faced justice. The sentence serves as a stark warning: those who attempt to enrich themselves through fraud will be held accountable. The case number is CR-24-01974- PHX-DGC, and the release number is 2025-112_Menaged.
