Slick Guilty in Harpers Ferry Firearm Sale

A 60-year-old Sharpsburg, Maryland, resident has been found guilty of selling a firearm to a prohibited person in West Virginia.

Wilbur Slick entered a guilty plea to "Sale of a Firearm to a Prohibited Person" on August 8, 2012, in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, according to a plea deal announced by United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II.

The crime, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, is punishable under federal law.

Assistant United States Attorney Jarod J. Douglas prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Slick, who is currently on bond pending sentencing, will face the possibility of up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced.

The case was heard in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel on January 8, 2013.

The plea deal marks a significant moment in the ongoing effort to crack down on firearm-related crimes in the region.
