Colorado Springs hustler Nathan James Meek, 43, will spend the next 25 years in a federal cage after a jury slammed him for running a multi-drug operation and illegally packing heat. Meek was convicted on a laundry list of charges, including intent to distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and even marijuana – a clear sign he wasn’t picky about his poison.
Federal prosecutors proved Meek wasn’t working alone, nailing him on a conspiracy charge to distribute controlled substances. But the real kicker? Meek, a previously convicted felon, was found with a firearm. That alone adds significant time, and in this case, it stuck. The feds also proved he had that gun while committing the drug crimes.
The sentencing, handed down by a Denver federal court, sends a message: flooding Colorado Springs with fentanyl and other drugs *and* being a repeat offender with a gun will land you a lengthy vacation courtesy of the Bureau of Prisons. Meek’s operation has been disrupted, but the DEA and local police are still battling the opioid crisis in the Pikes Peak region.
