Steven McDaniel Faces Life Behind Bars in SD Kidnapping

MISSION, SD – A Mission, South Dakota man is facing a potential life sentence after being indicted on federal charges of kidnapping and assault. Steven McDaniel, a/k/a Steven McDaniels, 33, allegedly held a woman captive and brutally assaulted her in June 2019.

According to a December 17, 2019 indictment unsealed following a court appearance on August 20, 2020, McDaniel is accused of kidnapping the woman between June 6th and 7th, 2019, and unlawfully assaulting her by strangling and suffocating her. He entered a plea of not guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno.

If convicted, McDaniel could face up to life in federal prison, along with a hefty $250,000 fine.
