Telinah Kowi Tek Farve, a 25-year-old Pearl River woman, has pleaded guilty to stabbing a tribal member in the Pearl River Community of the Choctaw Indian Reservation.
According to court documents, Farve stabbed the unidentified victim with a knife in 2023, causing serious bodily injury. The crime was investigated by the Choctaw Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Farve was subsequently indicted by a federal grand jury and pled guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury. U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee and Special Agent in Charge Robert Eikhoff of the Federal Bureau of Investigation made the announcement.
The maximum penalty for Farve’s crime is 10 years in prison. A federal district judge will determine her sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. She is scheduled to be sentenced on August 6, 2024.
“The safety and well-being of the Choctaw Nation is of the utmost importance,” said U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee. “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that those who commit violent crimes on tribal lands are held accountable.”
