Texas Woman Gets 25 Years for Child Sex Abuse Conspiracy

A Texas woman, Rebecca Jean Draper, 44, of Weatherford, has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for conspiring with another person to sexually abuse a child outside the United States.

According to a Department of Justice (DOJ) announcement, Draper was convicted of conspiring to commit international parental kidnapping and sex tourism, which carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison.

Draper was also sentenced to 20 years of supervised release, during which time she will be subject to strict conditions designed to prevent her from engaging in further criminal activity.

The investigation into Draper’s activities was led by the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama.

Draper’s crimes were committed in Mexico, where she allegedly conspired with another person to sexually abuse a child. The investigation revealed that Draper had traveled to Mexico on multiple occasions to engage in illicit activities.

The sentencing hearing was held on Friday, and U.S. District Judge R. David Proctor imposed the sentence. Draper is currently in federal custody and will be transferred to a federal prison to begin serving her sentence.

The case is a stark reminder of the dangers of international sex tourism and the importance of protecting children from exploitation.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama has vowed to continue investigating and prosecuting individuals who engage in such heinous crimes.

Draper’s conviction and sentencing serve as a warning to anyone who would seek to exploit vulnerable children for their own twisted desires.
