Tramps Leave Trail of Blood in Gloucester Slaughter

In a gruesome discovery, the bodies of two men were found in an abandoned tallow factory in Gloucester, New Jersey, on May 12, 1909. The victims, later identified as James Purdy and John Whftealaw, lay side by side, their skulls battered and crushed. The brutal crime scene was stumbled upon by three boys, who claimed credit for the discovery to their dog. The boys had been walking in the vicinity of the New York Shipbuilding Company’s yards towards Gloucester when the dog led them to the abandoned building.
