A monster walked free until justice caught up. Felipe Omar Hernandez-Gonzalez, 36, a Mexican national, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for re-entering the US after deportation. The violent ex had a long history of preying on women and children.
Hernandez-Gonzalez was deported in April 2018 after he was charged with DUI and assaulting his girlfriend in Hoover in February 2018. But he returned, and in the summer of 2025, he beat and choked his current girlfriend in Walker County, Alabama.
This wasn’t Hernandez-Gonzalez’s first act of domestic violence. In September 2017, he pleaded guilty to assaulting his four-month-old daughter, causing a subdural hematoma from severe head trauma. The baby was taken to Children’s of Alabama for treatment.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to combat illegal immigration, cartels, and transnational crime organizations.
Homeland Security Investigations and the Walker County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Cross prosecuting.
