Meth & Mayhem: Colorado Dealer Gets 10+ Years

Westminster, Colorado resident Michael Thomas Delguidice, 62, will spend the next decade-plus in federal prison after being sentenced to 124 months for a toxic cocktail of drug and weapons offenses. The feds hit Delguidice with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and a firearms charge, stemming from a domestic dispute that quickly unraveled a far more dangerous operation.

It all started December 5th, 2020, when Westminster PD responded to a call about a domestic disturbance. The victim reported her car had been riddled with bullets the night before, and claimed Delguidice had been casing her block on his motorcycle. When officers contacted Delguidice, they didn’t find a grieving ex – they found a drug dealer armed to the teeth.

A search revealed a staggering 93 grams of methamphetamine, neatly packaged for street-level distribution. Tucked in his jacket, officers also discovered a loaded .38 caliber revolver, two speed re-loaders, and $3,405 in cash. The sheer volume of drugs and the readily available firepower painted a clear picture: Delguidice wasn’t just holding, he was moving, and he was prepared to defend his operation.

But the trouble didn’t stop there. A deeper dive revealed a stolen 10mm Glock semi-automatic handgun and ammo stashed in Delguidice’s motorcycle bag. Ballistics confirmed the weapon matched shell casings recovered from the drive-by shooting reported by the victim. Delguidice wasn’t just dealing drugs; he was allegedly involved in violent acts, escalating the stakes and the potential danger to the community.

On February 7, 2023, Judge William J. Martinez handed down the 124-month sentence, a strong message that trafficking drugs and firearms carries severe consequences. Delguidice will also face three years of supervised release after he serves his time. Federal prosecutors, led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Dunn, successfully argued that Delguidice’s actions posed a significant threat to public safety.

The bust was a joint effort between the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force and the Westminster Police Department, demonstrating the power of coordinated law enforcement. This case also falls under the umbrella of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a federal program aimed at tackling violent crime and gun violence head-on. Delguidice’s sentence is a stark reminder that the feds are actively working to dismantle these dangerous networks and keep communities safe – or at least, try to.
