Indianapolis, July 29, 1931 – In a daring chase through the city streets, two alleged bootleggers were brought to justice today after a six-mile pursuit that ended with a haul of 17 cases of premium Old Log Cabin whisky. Motor Policemen Avery Biles and Alex Dunwoody were on the job when they spotted a suspicious vehicle careening down Minnesota Street. The officers gave chase, eventually forcing the car into a ditch at Tibbs Avenue and Minnesota Street. As they closed in, Horace Hiatt, 22, and Lester Holmes, 28, were caught off guard, with Hiatt shouting ‘You got us!’ in a last-ditch attempt to escape.
