Williamsville Man Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charge

Troy Malecki, 48, of Williamsville, NY, has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, including graphic images of minors under the age of 12. The guilty plea, entered before Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny, carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott S. Allen, Jr., Malecki was deeply embedded in an online network dedicated to the exchange and discussion of child sexual abuse material. Federal investigators say the digital footprint left by Malecki revealed a disturbing pattern of access, sharing, and collection of illicit content over a sustained period.

On September 18, 2015, FBI agents with the Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at Malecki’s residence. They seized his cellular phone, which forensic analysis later confirmed contained more than 850 images of child pornography. A significant number of the files depicted prepubescent children, some under 12 years old, law enforcement sources confirmed.

The investigation was led by the FBI’s Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Adam S. Cohen. Authorities say digital evidence pulled from Malecki’s device provided irrefutable proof of his involvement in the possession and likely distribution of illegal material.

Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced the plea as part of an ongoing federal crackdown on child exploitation. He emphasized that individuals who consume or share child pornography fuel a cycle of abuse and will be pursued with full prosecutorial force.

Sentencing is set for May 17, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. before Judge Skretny in Buffalo, New York. Malecki remains released on bond pending sentencing, though prosecutors are expected to argue for significant incarceration time given the volume and severity of the material involved.
