On a fateful Christmas night in 1934, a Canadian National Railway express train tore into a stationary excursion train in Ontario, leaving a trail of death and destruction in its wake. At least 15 lives were lost in the devastating crash, with over 20 people injured, some critically. The disaster occurred when the express train, bound for Toronto, failed to stop at an open switch, sending it careening onto the excursion train, which was waiting at the sidings.
