CHEYENNE, WY – Federal prosecutors wrapped up a three-year case today, securing a sentence for the last member of a cocaine distribution network that stretched across the Wyoming-Idaho border. The ring moved weight into Teton County, Wyoming and Teton County, Idaho, flooding the resort towns with product, according to sources within the investigation.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Wyoming announced the final sentencing, but offered few details about the specifics of the operation. What is clear: a multi-agency task force – including the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and law enforcement from both Idaho and Wyoming – brought the entire operation down.
Authorities will hold a press conference Friday at 10:00 a.m. MT at the U.S. Attorney’s Office Headquarters in Cheyenne to lay out the full scope of the investigation. Darin Smith, the U.S. Attorney, along with the heads of the Wyoming DCI and DEA will be speaking.
RSVP for the presser, or a virtual link, is through Lori Hogan at lori.hogan@usdoj.gov or 307-772-2124 by tomorrow, March 19th.
