Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a $20,000 fraud scheme targeting a Florida jail.
According to a press release from Google Fraud News, the suspects, identified as 27-year-old Michael Johnson and 32-year-old Emily Davis, were taken into custody on April 10, 2023 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The pair is accused of using fake identities to obtain money from inmates’ accounts, resulting in a total loss of $20,000.
Johnson and Davis have been charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud, with bail set at $50,000 each.
