Eight individuals have been arrested in connection with a $50 million California hospice and health care fraud scheme.
According to a press release from Google Fraud News, the defendants were arrested on March 2024 and charged with various crimes, including conspiracy to commit health care fraud, health care fraud, and money laundering.
The scheme allegedly involved a California-based hospice and health care provider that submitted false claims to Medicare and other insurance providers, resulting in millions of dollars in fraudulent payments.
The defendants are scheduled to appear in court on April 2024 to face the charges. The investigation was led by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from other law enforcement agencies.
