Caiceo-Valencia Pled Guilty to Illegally Reentering Country
A Colombian man has admitted to breaking the law and reentering the United States despite being deported.
ANTONIO CAICEO-VALENCIA, 42, a citizen of Columbia, has pleaded guilty to a one-count Indictment for illegal reentry of a removed alien. The Indictment alleges that on or about November 20, 2014, CAICEO-VALENCIA was found in the United States after having been officially deported and removed on or about December 27, 2010.
This is a serious offense, and the defendant faces severe consequences. CAICEO-VALENCIA could be sentenced to up to twenty years in prison, fined up to $250,000, and required to serve three years of supervised release. He will also have to pay a $100 special assessment.
The sentencing for CAICEO-VALENCIA is set for May 6, 2015 before U.S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan. This case is a reminder of the importance of our nation’s immigration laws and the consequences of violating them.
U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite praised the work of the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Spiro G. Latsis is in charge of the prosecution.
The case against CAICEO-VALENCIA is a stark reminder that those who break our laws will face justice. We will continue to work tirelessly to protect our nation’s borders and uphold the rule of law.
In the meantime, CAICEO-VALENCIA will face the consequences of his actions. His sentencing will be a significant moment in this case, and we will be monitoring the developments closely.
