Steubenville Man Fails to Register as Sex Offender
A 54-year-old Steubenville man has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for failing to register as a sex offender, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Boyd Dale Stacey of Steubenville, Ohio, pleaded guilty to a charge of failure to register as a sex offender and was sentenced by United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Stacey failed to register as a sex offender between November 4, 2011, and January 2012, as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jessica Lieber Smolar on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton commended the United States Marshals Service for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Stacey.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Stacey’s sentence will be followed by 20 years of supervised release.
