On a fateful Sunday in May 1859, the sleepy streets of New York were shaken to their core by a heinous crime that would leave the community reeling. At approximately 2 o’clock in the afternoon, Nicolas Ryermiller, a passerby, stumbled upon the gruesome scene. The first person to discover the carnage, Ryermiller was met with a sight that would haunt him for the rest of his life. Lim, an elderly man, stood outside his house, looking frantic, with a crazed glint in his eye. ‘I’ve killed the devil and it’s lying in there,’ Lim exclaimed, his voice trembling with madness as he pointed towards his home.
