Port Allen Man Charged with Methamphetamine Trafficking

DEVONTA DUNN, a 23-year-old Port Allen resident, has been charged with methamphetamine trafficking after a federal grand jury indicted him.

According to the indictment, DUNN allegedly possessed with intent to distribute five hundred grams or more of a mixture containing methamphetamine.

DUNN now faces a term of imprisonment of at least 10 years and up to life, a fine of up to $10,000,000, and at least five years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment if convicted.

U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans emphasized that the indictment is merely an allegation and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, with Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey Sandman handling the prosecution.
