New York – In a dramatic crackdown on gun violence, New York Attorney General Letitia James, the NYPD, and the ATF have unveiled the dismantling of a massive gun trafficking operation in Brooklyn. The alleged mastermind behind this illegal arms trade, Khyle Williams, 31, has been indicted for selling numerous firearms and high-capacity magazines.
Williams was charged with a staggering 176 crimes, including conspiracy, criminal sale of firearms, and possession of stolen property. The investigation, spearheaded by the OAG’s Organized Crime Task Force, resulted in the seizure of 32 firearms, 12 high-capacity magazines, and 200 rounds of ammunition.
The Attorney General emphasized the importance of this operation, stating, ‘My office is committed to putting a stop to gun trafficking operations that flood our communities with dangerous weapons.’
NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch highlighted the collaboration between law enforcement agencies, noting that their precision-policing strategies have resulted in the lowest number of shooting incidents and victims in New York City history.
ATF Special Agent in Charge Bryan DiGirolamo praised the joint efforts, stating that by removing illegal firearms from circulation, they have taken meaningful steps to reduce violent gun crime. Williams is alleged to have used encrypted messaging apps to negotiate sales and meet customers for transactions.
The recovered firearms, including some reported stolen in Georgia, underscore the breadth of this operation’s impact on public safety. Williams faces a maximum sentence of 25 years if convicted.
