New York – In a resounding call for immediate action, New York Attorney General Letitia James has led a coalition of elected officials in urging unrestricted humanitarian aid to enter Gaza. This appeal comes amidst an ongoing humanitarian crisis where Palestinian children are facing starvation and preventable diseases.
‘We are witnessing a humanitarian catastrophe,’ the statement reads. ‘Gaza is in the grip of starvation, with entire communities displaced and infrastructure decimated. Aid remains restricted or delayed, only exacerbating the suffering.’
The coalition, consisting of multiracial, multiethnic, and multifaith officials, emphasizes the urgency of a lasting diplomatic solution that would allow sustained, unrestricted humanitarian aid to reach those in need. They argue that food, medicine, and essential resources should not be contingent on political negotiations or logistical blockades.
‘Children are not combatants, and human life cannot be collateral,’ the statement declares. ‘The suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, the fear in Israel, and the grief across the region all speak to a common truth: every life is sacred. Every child deserves a future.’
In addition to the aid call, the coalition also supports the immediate and safe return of all hostages, expressing concern for their families and the enduring uncertainty felt by many.
The statement concludes with a plea to the American public to speak out in support of relief efforts and demand diplomatic solutions to end this crisis. ‘History will remember what we did, or failed to do, in this moment,’ it reads.
