DoorDash Workers Urged to Claim $16.75M Settlement by Dec 31, 2025

New York – The New York State Attorney General, Letitia James, has extended the deadline for current and former DoorDash delivery workers to file claims in a $16.75 million settlement. The agreement stems from an investigation by the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) that uncovered DoorDash’s deceptive practices involving tips meant for ‘Dasher’ deliveries.

In February 2025, AG James secured the substantial payout after discovering that DoorDash had been using Dashers’ tips to subsidize guaranteed pay. The extended deadline now stands at December 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM, urging eligible Dashers to file their claims online before the deadline.

‘The delivery workers keep this city running and deserve every dollar earned from their hard work,’ said AG James. ‘I urge all current and former Dashers who meet the requirements to submit their claims immediately to receive the compensation they are entitled to. My office will continue to fight for dignity and respect for all New York’s workers.’

The historic $16.75 million settlement, achieved earlier this year, compelled DoorDash to revise its pay practices, improve transparency for both customers and Dashers, and enhance access to order histories for the Dashers. Those who worked for DoorDash in New York between May 2017 and September 2019 and had tips applied to their guaranteed pay may receive funds from the settlement fund, distributed among current and former Dashers.

Eligible Dashers have received notification of the agreement via postal mail, email, or text message from an independent administrator, Atticus Administration. Notifications contain instructions on how to file a claim. AG James is urging anyone who has received a notification but has not yet filed or received their restitution money to submit a claim online as soon as possible. Approximately 63,000 delivery workers who delivered food for DoorDash in New York between May 2017 and September 2019 are eligible to receive funds from this agreement. As of December 3, over 30,000 Dashers have submitted their claims.

Between 2017 and 2019, DoorDash employed a guaranteed pay model that allowed Dashers to see potential earnings before accepting a delivery. Under this model, instead of tips being added to the guaranteed pay, the model used tips to subsidize the guaranteed pay already offered. The investigation found that DoorDash deceived customers into believing their tips directly benefited Dashers when in fact, DoorDash kept the tips intended for Dashers and deducted them from the guaranteed pay. DoorDash also failed to clearly inform customers and Dashers of these practices. Payments encouraged tipping with a message stating ‘Dashers always receive 100% of the tip,’ while information about the use of tips was hidden in documents.
