New York Attorney General Letitia James has announced the availability of an Election Protection Hotline for the upcoming June 24, 2025 primary election. The hotline, operating from June 14 to June 25, aims to provide immediate assistance to voters experiencing issues with absentee ballots, early voting, or in-person polling.
Attorney General James emphasized the importance of free and fair elections, stating, ‘New Yorkers deserve to feel safe about casting their ballots when they head to the polls for this month’s primary.’ The hotline is a part of the Office of the Attorney General’s commitment to ensuring every registered voter has access to accessible elections.
Under state and federal law, New Yorkers are protected from voter intimidation and suppression. Voters facing any election-related problems should call the hotline at (866) 390-2992 or submit a complaint online for assistance. The hotline will be staffed by OAG attorneys and is open during early voting and on Election Day.
The Office of the Attorney General has been operating its Election Protection Hotline since November 2012, addressing issues from voter registration purges to ensuring voters have adequate access to vote early. The Civil Rights Bureau, led by Chief Sandra Park and Deputy Travis England, is responsible for enforcing the New York Voting Rights Act, which guarantees fair and open elections.
On Election Day, all registered voters are guaranteed the right to vote without coercion or intimidation. The hotline’s coordination falls under the Voting Rights Section, directed by Lindsay McKenzie and staffed by Assistant Attorneys General and analysts who are dedicated to protecting voter rights in New York.
