Cedar Rapids Felon Pleads Guilty to Firearm Possession

RAMIUS HARDIMAN, a 21-year-old resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for the heinous crime of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

Hardiman’s plea hearing revealed his possession of a Taurus 9mm pistol on May 8, 2013, an offense that violates his rights due to a prior involuntary manslaughter conviction in October 2011.

The defendant now faces a severe penalty, with the possibility of up to ten years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, $100 in special assessments, and three years of supervised release should he be sentenced accordingly by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort among local, state, and federal authorities to crack down on gun-related crimes. Assistant United States Attorney Daniel C. Tvedt is leading the prosecution, with investigative support from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

Hardiman remains in custody pending sentencing, as detailed court documents are accessible through this link, with case file number 13-CR-37.
