GRIM NEWS: Javon Dockery, a 29-year-old from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been hit with four counts of bank robbery and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. The charges were laid out in a Superseding Indictment filed on August 13, 2014, by the United States District Court in Cedar Rapids.
Dockery’s criminal spree began on April 30, 2014, with a heist at the US Bank branch on 16th Avenue. He struck again at the Guaranty Bank Bever Avenue branch on May 16 and May 29 of the same year. The most serious offense was charged in an original Indictment: Dockery and his accomplice, Bria Daudinot, aged 21, robbed and assisted in the robbery of the US Bank 16th Avenue branch on June 26, 2014, while Dockery brandished a firearm.
The Superseding Indictment brings the total number of robberies charged against Dockery to four. Daudinot was previously charged with one count of bank robbery in a July 8, 2014 Indictment, but no new charges were added for her. Both suspects are currently being held without bond.
Conviction on all charges against Dockery could lead to a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years’ imprisonment, potentially up to life, with fines totaling $1,250,000 and up to 17 years of supervised release after any prison term. Daudinot faces up to 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, and up to three years on supervised release.
The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Cedar Rapids Police Department, and the Sixth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services, with Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel handling the prosecution. Dockery and Daudinot’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 22, 2014.
As with any criminal case, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. For more information on this case, visit the court file, where the case file number is CR 14-68.
