Georgia Man Sentenced for Child Pornography Possession

Cameron Scott Johnson, 24, from Lake Park, Georgia, was handed a severe sentence on Monday, August 26, 2013, for his shocking possession of child pornography. United States Attorney Michael J. Moore for the Middle District of Georgia announced that Johnson had been sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge Hugh Lawson to sixty-one (61) months imprisonment followed by twenty-five (25) years supervised release and mandatory sex offender registration.

The guilty plea entered by Johnson on June 3, 2013, revealed his computer usage between September 26, 2011, and December 5, 2011, for searching and downloading explicit material involving minors. Law enforcement agents traced the Internet Protocol address linked to Johnson’s residence, leading to a search warrant and seizure of his computer. Examination of the device uncovered over 600 images and videos, some depicting sexual activity with adults and sadistic behavior towards children under twelve years old.

“Every time Mr. Johnson downloaded a picture of one of these children, he re-victimized them,” said Moore. “It is both sad and reprehensible that he would seek to exploit the innocence of our youth.”

The investigation was led by the Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert D. McCullers handling the prosecution.
