Georgia Recidivist Christopher Wilcox Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography

Former Cordele dweller and repeat offender Christopher B. Wilcox, 41, has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, according to Michael J. Moore, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia.

The plea was entered on December 15, 2014, before U.S. District Court Judge W. Louis Sands in Albany. Wilcox’s previous convictions include possession of child pornography in March 2003 and aggravated child abuse in February 2005, both in Crisp County Superior Court.

Wilcox was serving a ten-year parole revocation for the state sentence based on his latest offense when he was charged anew. The current charges were uncovered during a search of Wilcox’s computer by a U.S. Probation Officer overseeing his release from the 2003 conviction.

With two previous felony convictions, Wilcox faces up to twenty years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. He is also required to register as a sex offender and will be sentenced within approximately 60 days.

“This prosecution brings justice to a recidivist who poses a threat to children whenever he is not incarcerated,” said U.S. Attorney Michael Moore.

The case was investigated by the FBI in Albany, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Crane handling the prosecution for the government. For inquiries on this case, contact Public Information Officer Pamela Lightsey at (478) 621-2603.
