United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley has announced the sentencing of Tyrone Bradshaw, a 47-year-old man from Los Angeles, California, to 41 months in prison for his failure to register as a sex offender upon relocating to Louisiana.
Bradshaw was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Dee D. Drell and will also serve 17 years of supervised release following the completion of his sentence. His current term stems from a prior conviction for failing to register in California, where he was released in 1994 after serving time for kidnapping, forcible rape, and robbery.
The crime took place on August 1, 2012, when Bradshaw traveled by bus to Alexandria, Louisiana. He acquired a state identification card under the false address of Lake Charles, Louisiana, omitting his sex offender status as required by Louisiana law. The Alexandria Police Department subsequently arrested him.
Investigation into this case was carried out by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Alexandria Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney F. Michael O’Mara was responsible for prosecution.
This severe sentence sends a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who fail to comply with sex offender registration laws, emphasizing the commitment to public safety in Louisiana.
Tyrone Bradshaw’s case serves as a cautionary tale and underscores the importance of adhering to legal requirements for registered sex offenders.
