Sallisaw Drug Kingpin Gets Decade Behind Bars

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: In a stunning blow to the meth trade, William Leo Ruminer, 48, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for his role in a massive methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Ruminer was handed a 100-month sentence, followed by four years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $56,750.00 fine.

The conviction stems from an extensive investigation led by the Sallisaw Police Department, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. According to court documents, Ruminer was charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Controlled Substances, in violation of Title 21 United States Code, Section 846. He was indicted in August 2013 and pleaded guilty in October 2013.

The indictment revealed that Ruminer, along with others, had been involved in the distribution of at least 50 grams of methamphetamine since August 2012. The operation spanned across the Eastern District of Oklahoma and beyond, as authorities uncovered a sophisticated network dedicated to the drug trade.

The hearing was presided over by the Honorable James H. Payne, District Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Muskogee. Ruminer will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal Service until he is transported to a federal prison to serve his sentence, which is nonparolable.

Representing the United States was Assistant United States Attorney Kyle Waters, who has been instrumental in dismantling drug trafficking operations across Oklahoma. The sentencing marks another victory for law enforcement agencies in their ongoing battle against methamphetamine distribution.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who engage in illegal drug activities. Ruminer’s sentence sends a powerful message that the justice system will not tolerate such criminal behavior.
