The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has charged Michael Allen Cooper, 39, and Amanda Jo Jones, 24, both from Moore, Oklahoma, with Conspiracy To Possess With Intent To Distribute And Distribute Five Hundred (500) Or More Grams Of mixture or Substance Containing a Detectable Amount of Methamphetamine. The arraignment took place in federal court today.

The charges stem from an alleged conspiracy that began on August 19, 2013, and continued until April 8, 2014. According to the Criminal Complaint filed on April 14, 2014, Cooper and Jones conspired with others to distribute large quantities of methamphetamine in various capacities.

The investigation was a collaborative effort involving local and federal law enforcement agencies such as the Tulsa Police Department, the West Siloam Springs Police Department, and the DEA. The charges carry significant penalties, with Cooper facing life imprisonment or up to $20,000,000 in fines and Jones facing at least 10 years imprisonment or up to $10,000,000 in fines.

Both defendants were remanded into custody of the United States Marshal Service after their arraignment. The Honorable Steven P. Shreder presided over the hearings in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

The United States Attorney representing the government was First Assistant U.S. Attorney Doug Horn. A grand jury indictment does not prove guilt but merely charges the defendants with formal allegations that require proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
