Fort Lauderdale, FL – Christina M. Kitterman, a former attorney with Rothstein, Rosenfeldt and Adler, P.A., has been sentenced to five years in prison for her role in the notorious Ponzi scheme orchestrated by Scott Rothstein.
Kitterman, 38, of Deerfield Beach, was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release following her prison term. She had earlier been convicted on three counts of wire fraud.
The charges against Kitterman stemmed from her involvement in selling purported confidential settlement agreements in sexual harassment and whistleblower cases, which were falsely claimed to have been handled by attorneys at RRA.
During the trial, evidence revealed that Kitterman falsely represented herself as the head of the Ft. Lauderdale office of the Florida Bar Association during a meeting with investors, explaining delays in payments due to them.
United States Attorney Wifredo A. Ferrer praised the investigative work of IRS-CI and the FBI, while Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lawrence D. LaVecchio, Paul F. Schwartz, Jeffrey N. Kaplan, and Evelyn B. Sheehan handled the prosecution.
