Mount Vernon’s L.C. Richardson, alias ‘L.C. Richardson,’ has been handed a severe federal sentence for his involvement in firearm and heroin offenses. The United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Donald S. Boyce, announced today that Richardson, aged 38, was sentenced to 250 months imprisonment after pleading guilty to three counts.
The charges against Richardson included Unlawful Distribution of Heroin and two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. The offenses took place on January 22nd and 25th, 2016, in Mount Vernon. His sentence was enhanced due to his classification as an Armed Career Criminal.
At the time of the offenses, Richardson was already under supervised release for a 1998 federal conviction for conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. The District Court revoked his supervised release on this case and added a further 15-month imprisonment term. Both sentences were ordered to be served consecutively, resulting in a total of 250 months behind bars.
The investigation leading to Richardson’s conviction was a collaborative effort by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Mt. Vernon Police Department, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The Jefferson County States Attorney’s Offices also played a significant role in the probe.
Richardson’s sentence includes 235 months imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release. He was also fined $900.00. This case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences for those who choose to engage in violent and drug-related activities within our communities.
