Columbus Man Gets 8 Months for Huntington Heroin Possession

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The grim halls of justice echoed with a sentence today as Tyshawn Desmeon Davis, 28, from Columbus, faced the music for his role in the heroin trade. The United States Attorney Carol Casto announced that Davis was sentenced to eight months in federal prison after being caught with approximately 18 grams of pure evil – heroin.

The feds moved in on June 29, 2015, executing a search warrant at 1751 Buffington Avenue in Huntington. They found Davis in the thick of it, his hands stained by the drug trade. What came out during their interrogation was even more chilling; Davis confessed to distributing heroin from that very residence, implicating others in the seedy underworld.

This is no mere possession case; this was a targeted hit on a man who admitted to being part of a larger operation. Assistant United States Attorney Joseph F. Adams led the prosecution, and Chief United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers handed down the sentence. The Huntington FBI Drug Task Force conducted the thorough investigation that led to Davis’s conviction.

This prosecution is another blow in the ongoing war against prescription drug abuse and heroin misuse. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia, along with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, are determined to stamp out illegal pill trafficking, clear open-air markets, and stop the spread of opioids across communities.
