Hard drugs, hard time. Roger Coley, 60, of Rossville, Ga., and Randall Nelson Doss, 52, of Chattanooga, Tenn., were sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Abingdon, Va., for their roles in a conspiracy to flood Southwest Virginia with ICE methamphetamine—a high-potency form of the drug ravaging rural communities.
Coley, who pled guilty to one count of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute ICE methamphetamine, was handed a 57-month federal prison sentence. Doss, who entered the same plea, received a stiffer 84-month term—nearly seven years behind bars—for his deeper involvement in the pipeline from Tennessee to Virginia.
According to court evidence, the pair supplied bulk quantities of meth to a network of local distributors, including co-conspirators Mike Warren, Summer Delp, Kevin Roark, and Tim Montgomery. These operatives regularly crossed state lines, driving from Virginia into Tennessee to collect the drugs before transporting them back for street-level distribution.
“This conspiracy brought large quantities of a very potent form of methamphetamine into Southwest Virginia and preyed upon the addictions of others,” said United States Attorney John P. Fishwick Jr. “Law enforcement in this case worked cooperatively to dismantle this conspiracy and bring these defendants to justice.”
The takedown was the result of a multi-agency blitz led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; the Drug Enforcement Administration; the U.S. Marshals Service; and the Virginia State Police. Their coordinated investigation peeled back layers of the operation, tracking movements, transactions, and communications that sealed the defendants’ fates.
Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Jayne prosecuted the case. With sentences now imposed, federal authorities are urging communities to remain vigilant—this ring may be busted, but the flow of ICE meth across state lines remains a lethal reality.
