Joshua Garcia, a 26-year-old from Springfield, Massachusetts, has pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm and cocaine with the intent to distribute. The crime occurred on October 3, 2024, in Springfield, and Garcia was charged in March 2025. The guilty plea comes after a thorough investigation by federal authorities.
Garcia’s charges include possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug distribution. These charges carry significant penalties, including up to 20 years in prison for the cocaine charge and up to life in prison for the firearm charge.
The case against Garcia was prosecuted by Todd E. Newhouse of the Springfield Branch Office, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Massachusetts State Police. United States Attorney Leah B. Foley announced the guilty plea, which was accepted by U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni.
Garcia’s sentencing is scheduled for June 15, 2026. The outcome will depend on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and statutes that govern the determination of a sentence in a criminal case. The maximum fines for the charges are $1 million for the cocaine charge and $250,000 for the firearm charge.
